Women’s Retreat

Discipleship is a lifelong journey of faith. The journey, although enriching, may sometimes be challenging. Having companions on the journey can help you stay committed and strong. During this retreat, we will examine three first-century women who were Jesus' disciples: the Syrophonician Woman in Mark’s gospel, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the Mother of Jesus to learn more about their discipleship. These women can be role models and companions for our own faith journey inspiring us with courage and fortitude.

Catholic Social Teaching

One of the best-kept secrets in today’s Catholic Church is the social teachings. Learn the biblical foundations of justice, key encyclicals, and pastoral letters that call us to be engaged active members of the Church. Participants will learn the 7 major themes of Catholic Social Teachings through an interactive approach and reflect on their own discipleship in response to these teachings.

World Religions

The Vatican II document Nostra Aetate states “ The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all people .” In order to live in peace, we must work to understand those who may be different than ourselves and our beliefs. This retreat reflects on the major religions of Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism in contrast to Christianity. Participants will be exposed to the core principles of each tradition and aspects of their sacred scriptures.
